Here are a few of the most interesting facts about Hendrix’s love for women:
He had a longtime girlfriend: Kathy Ethchingham, a British songwriter, was Hendrix’s most stable female companion if there was such a thing. They relationship was long and rocky and Hendrix was more than once sited for domestic violence during fits of jealousy.
He was promiscuous: It’s a well-known fact Jimi loved female companionship and he was known to request the company of any number of groupies after a show. He appeared to have no qualms cavorting with casual relationships while also engaged in more serious relationships on the side.
A woman turned him on to drugs: It’s been reported that Hendrix never took psychopropic drugs until the night he met Linda Keith. In later life, Hendrix’s love for drugs and alcohol would ultimately be his undoing and many historians have traced this back to Ms. Keith.

To say that Jimi Hendrix had a tremendous influence on the genre of rock and roll would be an understatement of epic proportions. Hendrix was a mesmerizing and innovative guitar player like no one had seen before. Arguably, you could make the case that no one ever to rise to his level since his untimely premature passing.

Hendrix had a means of playing the guitar that was loud and passionate but also controlled. He was able to truly hit every component of virtuoso guitar playing.Want more? Click here/tag In other words, he showed there was a different way to hit notes on the guitar that were radical departures from what was traditionally accepted.

Hendrix also had a very wild stage presence. Theatrics such as lighting his guitar on fire were quite novel and shocking for the time period. Such theatrics were certainly copied over the years and many modern musicians can point to Hendrix-s stage presence as a great influence on their own performances. Ironically, some modern musicians may not even have heard of Hendrix but his influence is so institutionalized in the way the guitar is played, they are influenced by him whether they know it or not. Either way, the influence is there and it is powerful.

After Jimi Hendrix was discharged from the Army in 1961, he teamed up with a friend he met while he was in the service, Billy Cox. The two moved relocated to Clarksville, Tennessee. The two, had cultivated the musical interests, while they were in the service. They put together a small band, and started playing small gigs at very unknown small venues in and around Tennessee. When Hendrix felt that playing those gigs in Tennessee had run their course, he moved to New York City in 1962 to try his luck there. In 1964, Jimi Hendrix was invited to armature night at the famed Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York. He won that night, and was feeling hopeful. His first huge success’s in the music industry came shortly after his win at the Apollo. He was hired as a guitarist with the band the ‘Isley Brothers’. The first recording that Hendrix did was as an official member of the Isley Brothers, he recorded the album, ‘Testify’ in 1964. He had a falling out with the band, and left soon after the first album he did. He soon found ‘Little Richard’, and started performing and recording with him but not for long.
